There is no hole or depth requirement for the DEKOR Lighting Puck Landscape Light. This light sits atop the material you wish to place it on, i.e. ground, dirt, grass, gravel, etc. It does come with a spike if you wish to 'anchor' it into the ground, but that is also not a requirement to use the light.
