Yes, the DEKOR Recessed Up/Down light can be used out for uplighting from the surface of a deck, though you will have a raised ring around the light which can cause issues when removing snow, and may be uncomfortable if stepped on. DekDots have been specifically designed for this application as they are completely flush mounted.
